About Richard

Richard Matthews is an actor, dancer, and singer with experience across film, television, musical theatre, and company-based dance. His film and background credits include The Fighting Temptations, Daddy’s Little Girl, and Captain America: Civil War. His theatre credits include A Chorus Line, West Side Story, and Cinderella, among others.

Richard began his training at DeKalb School of the Arts in Atlanta, where he studied acting and dance and was recognized with Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Poseidon in The Trojan Women at the SETC Secondary School Theatre Festival in 2011. He later continued his training at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia (BFA 2016) , where he deepened his work in musical theatre and performance.

As a professional dancer, Richard has performed as a company dancer with Charlottesville Ballet and Eleone Dance Theatre, and in live entertainment productions with Norwegian Cruise Line and Hershey Theme Park. His television and media appearances include 700 Club Interactive, Deep End with Lecrae, Relatable with Allie Beth, and Mike Signorelli Ministries.

After stepping back from performing during the COVID era, Richard has been reignited with a passion to create art that inspires joy, hope, and authenticity. He is excited to continue growing as a triple-threat performer for film and television and to create work that moves people emotionally and spiritually.
